This
study focused on jargon meaning based on word-formation process. The aims of
this study are to describe what the jargon used by judge, mentors, and hosts
in Stand Up Comedy Academy, explain the meaning of jargon used by judges,
mentors and hosts in there, and to describe the word-formation process of those
jargon used by judges, mentors and hosts in there. This study has three
problems statement, they are what jargon are used by judges, mentors and hosts
in Stand Up Comedy Academy, what are the meaning of those jargon, and how is
the word-formation process of those jargon. The researcher used a descriptive
qualitative. The data taken from the recording competition of Stand Up Comedy
Academy by media television. Before the researcher collecting and analyzing the
data based on meaning and word-formation process, she made the transcript from
the audio recording during the judges and mentors giving assessment to the
contestant and the hosts when guide the show of Stand Up Comedy Academy. The
finding of this study is the researcher found there are 40 special jargon used
by judges, mentors, and hosts in Stand Up Comedy Academy. She found there are
two (2) include that word coinage, such as Gerr to asses the comic. Fourteen
(14) include borrowing word, such as explore, delivery, premis. Thirteen (13) compounding,
such as gantung mic and ambil mic. Seven (7) word include conversion, such bomb
and timing. One (1) word clipping, that is persona, and three (3) words include
derivation such as mengeksekusi and tantangan.
